“Everything I learnt in my agribusiness degree has helped with the job I do today.”
Why did you study agribusiness?
I have an interest in business and marketing, and I was interested in the agriculture industry because it is such a growing industry. I chose UQ because it was a recognised university for agribusiness.
What was the best part of your studies?
I loved living on campus at UQ’s Gatton campus. It was also beneficial to graduate with the knowledge of two degrees.
It was great to be able to interact with real life businesses while we studied. Relationship building was key to my studies, and the ability to build relationships is one of the main attributes all employers look for today.
What kind of work do you do as part of your job?
I work in sales for the business, which allows me to really apply the skills I learned as part of my agribusiness degree.
What advice would you give to anyone looking to start their career?
- network with as many people as you can
- do as much work experience as you can and cover as many industries within agriculture while at uni
- the job opportunities are endless but you need to find where you fit in.
